Holden Village Off-the-Grid
Illustrated at Holden Village in Chelan, Washington - a Lutheran run retreat center welcoming all to the wilderness
{The third photo shows the size relationship of the 24x36 posters,12x16 prints, and 5x7 cards.}
“Off-the-grid” essentially means that Holden is it’s own power station, water treatment plant, sewage center and emergency services, all based off hydroelectric power! Because all of this originates with Copper Creek, Holden’s utilities are largely self-sustaining. This piece is a visual explanation of the systems behind the 1930s era mining village. I created this 'illustrative infographic' during my 2015 Artist-in-Residence at the historic Holden Village (tucked in the remote mountains of the North Cascades near Lake Chelan in Washington State).
