"Just Whidbey Island" Watercolor Map
Whidbey Island, the fourth largest island in the USA, is located in the Puget Sound of the the Lower Salish Sea. Whidbey's unusual, twisting shape is 55 miles long, making it visible from most of the coastal areas near Seattle. It's a popular destination, despite the need for a ferry to access much of the island, from the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry crossing on the south end to the Port Townsend connector near Ebey's Landing. One of the longest islands in the continental US, Whidbey is home to historic Coupeville, Langley, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NAS Whidbey) in Oak Harbor, and the scenic Deception Pass on the north end. Admiralty Head Lighthouse and Fort Casey are popular scenic destinations.
Familiar ferry crossings criss-cross this island: Port Townsend - Coupeville (Keystone) and Mukilteo - Clinton.
