Puget Sound or Whulge, the Lushootseed name for the Sound
As the second largest estuary in the United States, the Puget Sound offers complex waterways, peninsulas, islands and lakes. The Sound opens into the greater Salish Sea. There are many sailboats, ferries and float planes traversing these wispy waterways. There was so much I wanted to include in this illustration! I chose to focus on the water, however. I highlighted the cities nearest to the water. Lighthouses and ports are indicated with symbols. Ferry sailing routes and destinations are included. Key landmarks are highlighted like the Kitsap Peninsula, Seattle, Whidbey Island, San Juan Islands and more.
