Ireland or Éire
This small island, with a population just over 6 million, has an astonishingly large reputation. I think their biggest export is culture! I was charmed by this Celtic land when I had the pleasure of driving from the west coast to the east coast and back again... on just ONE tank of gas! Even though I'm from the US Pacific Northwest (specifically from "The Evergreen State"), I was impressed with the many shades and intensities of green that I saw, so I was sure to reflect that in the hues of my watercolor choices on this illustration.
The map highlights the geological features of the island, highlighting each county and its local authority, from Dublin to Kilkenny. I feature the geography of the country over the political boundary between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, as the land is much older than the lines. All 32 counties are shown, and many, like County Cork, County Kerry and County Tipperary, may sound familiar to even the most far-flung ear.
Ideal art print for the Irish person in your life!
